8*Bit Devo Shirt

Here's a shirt I designed for the 8 Bit Devo tribute album. It is available for purchase over at the 8 Bit Operators site, look under merchandise.

I came across this mini doc about a Portland circuit bender on Make Magazine's blog. Noystoise (Craig Mederios) makes the most beautiful cobbled-together instruments I've ever seen. He also has a great blog showing some of his process and the final instruments in action.

yea yea yea yea yea yea ya ya ya yeah

Here's brief glimpse at the latest sculpture I've been working on for KSine aka Receptors aka 8bit Operators. I'm still a little fuzzy if all of those things are a single person, or if some of them are groups. I need to find out if I can post the entire sculpt yet, but here's a small segment at least.

Are We Not Men?

I might be working on some cover art for a Devo tribute album coming up. I've been doing some research lately, revisiting and discovering old music videos. Deanna and I fell in love with the album "Q: Are We Not Men?, A: We Are Devo" when we were driving down the California coast for our honeymoon. So I'm really looking forward to working on some Devo inspired artwork. Here is a video for the original version of Jocko Homo. It's a bit more raw than the album version which is a nice variation. ENJOY!

Sell Out

The shirt design I made for The Chris Gethard Show went on sale recently in their new online store. I was really happy to see the radical militia group known as The Dolchnakov Brigade modeling them. The shirts are currently sold out, but I'm sure they will add more at some point.

Everything You Do is a Balloon

I had never seen this music video from Boards of Canada before, but I really like it now. It is entirely made up of footage from a bicycle safety film from the 60's called One Got Fat. It is horrifying, and its hard to take your eyes off of it once the creepiness kicks in. I had a strong urge to start working on making one of those masks as I watched it. The whole atmosphere reminded me of one of the segments from the anthology movie Trick R' Treat, which I love.

I came across this video on Unreality's list of eight disturbing music videos. There are a few more entries on there worth checking out if you like they type of thing.

I Fink U Freeky

Here is the new Die Antwoord video directed by Roger Ballen & NINJA. They again deliver a creepy/gorgeous video that feels like David Fincher , Shelby Lee Adams, and Chris Cunningham shared a fever dream. There is some NSFW language, and although the imagery isn't "offensive" you might feel a little icky watching it. With that I give you I Fink U Freeky.

Impossible Acts

I haven't really set any limitations or restrictions for myself with this blog yet, and I don't think I am going to. It's just going to be a little corner where I can put things that I like, things that get my attention, or that just wow me. This video falls in the last category.

I am not a musician. I love music and listen to it constantly, but never took that step into creating it. I do have daydreams of being a drummer though. Maybe I was one in a different life or maybe I will be in an upcoming one, but for the time being I just like being a fan. I don't know all of the technical aspects of drumming, but sometimes you can just see something you don't completely understand and know that its an incredible feat. Buddy is said to have been a very diffcult person to be around. Some say there were things he could do on the drums that no one can or will ever be able to replicate. You have to respect someone who puts so much of their heart into something like he did; even if they fail in so many other aspects of life.
