The Precious Few

A comic I colored a while back was recently posted on the site FanBros. They have been posting a series of creator owned comics. The story "The Precious Few" was written and illustrated by Derek Fridolfs and Kenneth Elliot Jones. You can check it out here.

Moon Trip

I found this lovely item at an estate sale yesterday. It is a smallish, beautifully illustrated book about a hypothetical mission to the moon. It was originally printed in 1958, this edition was the third printing from 1961. This means that when the first edition was published, we had yet to put a man in space, let alone put one on the moon. So that makes this sci-fi to some degree.

The illustrations by Jerry Robinson are incredible. At first glance the book looks like it could be an indie comic that someone published last year. After looking up Jerry I realized I was already familiar with his work. He was a veteran comic artist and is best known for creating the Joker.

Sadly Jerry passed away last year, but obviously left behind quite a legacy. If the book strikes your fancy there are plenty of copies for sale on Amazon.

Kent Williams's Star Wars cover

I discovered today, when looking at something completely unrelated, that Kent Williams did a cover for the Star Wars comic in the 80's. This blew my mind. I love Kent's work. I did an internship with him when I was in school and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The cover is pretty cool. I like the Luke and Leia portraits more than the ominous figure in the back, but you take what you can get. If you haven't seen Kent's work lately, check out his website, his fine art work is amazing and he is so prolific.

Trailblazer

Here is a comic cover I colored for writer Matt O'Keefe. The linework was done by Blake Sims. Here are the first 6 pages of the comic. Its a fun read. It puts the work of soul searching demons into the context of the ho-hum workplace, kinda of like The Office. It sounds like the story will branch out a bit more in the future, but that is the vibe I got from these initial pages. I colored the main character yellow first, but that got changed to red. Here's both:

Breakfast

Well its Halloween, possibly my favorite holiday, and I have a fun scary little item to share. I colored this comic Breakfast written by Steve Ekstom and drawn by Douglas Draper. The comic was originally publish by 803 Studios and today is being hosted by Top Shelf 2.0. It was originally part of an anthology called "SLOP", containing stories based around the character Remus Filch who keeps some well fed pigs. So take a look at the short to indulge in a little Halloween fun.
